Teeth Whitening

At Coral Springs Dental we use a "take home" bleaching system. This system oxidizes the enamel of the teeth just the same as the in office ZOOM whitening commonly seen on makeover TV shows. Two appointments are needed. The first appointment molds are made of the patients mouth and the second appointment is where you receive the trays, solution, instructions and protective case. The take home system is preferable in a number of ways. First is the cost. The cost is $330 for the complete kit. This compares to $600/hour for in office bleaching. Normally 2-3 hours are needed to achieve a satisfactory shade improvement. Second is the longevity. All bleached teeth will darken back a certain amount. With in office bleaching you will have to schedule another appointment. The trays that are made for the take home system will fit you for life assuming no tooth loss or major shifting. The solution given at the second appointment will be adequate for both top and bottom teeth. When ordering refills ($100 for 4 syringes) you can order stronger or weaker solution depending on level of sensitivity. Re-bleaching can be done every 3-6 months for 2-3 nights. This way you can economically maintain the bleached shade you desire. Dental Insurance typically does not cover bleaching.

Porcelain Crowns

Crowns (caps) are one of the strongest and best ways to change your teeth and are appropriate for many people. The tooth shape, color and position can all be altered with a Porcelain Crown. Custom shading is done to match the crown to the patients natural tooth color. Crowns are considered a Major Dental procedure and are typically covered at 50% by your dental plan.

Cosmetic Bonding

Bonding is covering the front surface of teeth with durable plastic to either change the tooth's color or shape, or to rebuild broken teeth. Bonding is similar to Veneers, but not as strong, but it is a low-cost way to improve your smile. Bonding is great for children who have chipped front teeth and for adults who need an alternative for veneers and understand the limitations. Best part is that bonding is considered a Basic Dental procedure and at times is covered 100% by your dental plan.

Orthodontics

Dr. Scarlett has advanced training and participates in many hours of post graduate study pertaining to orthodontics. With new techniques and materials some orthodontic cases can be completed in as little as 12 months. Most orthodontic cases will need traditional braces, but with modern technology even traditional braces are less noticeable and more comfortable then ever. Orthodontics is changing and more patients are finding that braces are not just meant for children. Maintaining dental hygiene is the MOST important part of your orthodontic journey. Clean gums are healthy gums and healthy gums will make your orthodontic case finish quicker and with better results. Electric toothbrushes and Waterpik's are excellent cleaning aids.

Wisdom Teeth Removal & Sedation Dentistry

This is a common rite of passage for most people aged 18-22. Impacted wisdom teeth can be painful, cause bad breath and cause shifting of the remaining teeth. At times patients are nervous and apprehensive about getting their wisdom teeth removed. This is understandable as it is minor surgery and to help with this, at Coral Springs Dental we offer Sedation Dentistry. Sedation consists of pills that are taken the night before and the morning of the procedure. No food or drink are to be consumed after 6 pm the night before. The patient arrives at the office one hour prior to the scheduled start time and given time to relax and fall asleep. The medication is very effective and after 10 - 15 minutes the patient is usually asleep. Now the wisdom teeth can be removed with the patient being completely comfortable. Best part is that you slept through it all! Sedation can also be used for ANY Dental procedure ie. root canals, fillings, routine extractions.
